A new Lansdale Borough parks and recreation director could be continuing the legacy of late director Carl Saldutti as soon as the summer, according to Dan Sokil of The Reporter Newspaper.
Last week, Councilwoman Mary Fuller, who chairs the parks and recreation committee along with Councilors BJ Breish and Carrie Hawkins Charlton, announced the borough received 22 applications for the parks and recreation director position, and of those 22, the applicants were whittled down to 12. Interviews will begin over the next couple weeks, with a decision to be made by the end of May. The new employee would then take on the role by the beginning of June.
Former Parks and Recreation Director Karl Lukens resigned for a new job after three years in the position, per the report.
“I think everybody knows that we are director-less in Parks and Rec. The helm is being sufficiently managed by (parks and recreation assistant) Joanne Grubb — shoutout to Joanne for keeping us afloat,” said Fuller during the meeting.
Due to the search for a new parks and recreation director, the installation of a possible dog park in one of the borough parks has been put on the back burner for now.
In other parks and recreation committee news, there is the possibility of a cricket court being installed at Wedgewood Park.
