Woman Charged After Forging Checks from Local Private Investigator, Police Say

A Youngsville woman is facing felony theft charges after she allegedly forged nearly a dozen checks while working for a Lansdale-based private investigator.

Police were contacted by the victim in November 2021, who reported that a prior employee had forged multiple checks between August and October 2021. The victim told police that they typically provide up to ten blank checks per employee to cover pay and expenses, however the former employee — identified as 32-year-old Amber Theuret — had cashed 11 unauthorized totaling $2,241 in less than eight weeks, according to charging documents.

Police said the victim contacted Theuret about the expenses and checks, however Theuret failed to provide any documentation of the expenses. Additionally, Theuret allegedly signed into an agreement with the victim to repay the funds, however she failed to follow through and has since stopped responding to the victim, according to the complaint.

As a result of the investigation, Theuret has been charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and theft by failing to make required dispersed funds. Her preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 25 at 11:30 a.m. in front of District Judge Ed Levine.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
