Two Men Arrested After Punching Woman, Running Her Over with SUV, Police Say

William Miller, 50, of Sellersville, left, and Timothy Morvin, 37, of North Wales, right.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a February hit and run in Lansdale that left one woman hospitalized.

Timothy Morvin, 37, of North Wales, has been charged with simple assault, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, and William Miller, 50, of Sellersville, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, reckless driving and harassment in connection with the investigation by the Lansdale Borough Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the area of West Eighth Street and North Cannon Avenue at 7:23 a.m. on Feb. 23 for a report of a hit and run. While enroute to the scene, police also learned of a second hit and run crash near the intersection of West Seventh Street and Towamencin Ave.

Upon arrival at the initial call, police encountered a visibly upset female and her male friend. Investigators said the female was unable to answer any questions, however the male said that the female’s boyfriend — identified as Morvin — had punched her in the face, and her family friend — identified as Miller — had run her over with a Chevy Tahoe while fleeing the scene.

The friend told police that he and the victim were supposed to put gas into Miller’s vehicle and then pick him up, however they ran out of gas on the way to the gas station, causing them to be late, police said. The friend then rode his bike to the nearest gas station and returned with the fuel, according to charging documents.

The friend and victim were driving the vehicle in the area of the pickup point near the intersection of West Eighth Street and Moyer Road when Morvin and Miller allegedly arrived in a Ford Expedition and blocked them in at the stop sign, police said. Morvin and Miller then jumped out of their vehicle and began yelling at the victim for being late, according to the complaint.

The altercation became physical when Miller threw the victim against the vehicle and began striking her, police said. Morvin then approached the victim and punched her in the left side of her face, knocking her to the ground, the report states.

Morvin then fled the scene, police said.

With the victim still on the ground, Miller allegedly stepped over her, got into the vehicle and then ran her over, striking her left foot and knee and skimming her shoulder and chest. Miller then fled the scene, at which point he allegedly ran a stop sign and struck an occupied vehicle near the intersection of West Seventh Street and Towamencin Avenue, police said.

Morvin was taken into custody and arraigned on Feb. 28 by District Judge Denise Ashe, who set bail at $3,500 cash. He was then taken to county jail after failing to post.

Miller, however, continued to evade law enforcement for approximately one month, prompting Lansdale Borough Police to seek public assistance in his apprehension on March 16. Towamencin Police would then be tipped off to Miller’s location at the Royal Farms next to the turnpike entrance on Sumneytown Pike on March 23, and he would be taken into custody following a brief pursuit down Sumneytown Pike.

Both Morvin and Miller were out on bail at the time of their arrests, and both have numerous open criminal cases at the district court and county court levels. Court records show Morvin has at least six open cases at the county level on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing and a variety of other offenses.

Miller was also facing existing charges of firearms violations, aggravated assault and flight to avoid apprehension, according to police. He was additionally charged with attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless endangerment, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle and related offenses in connection with his arrest in Towamencin on March 23.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
