Bucks County government has a podcast.
In February, county government launched the 20- to 30-minute-long “Bucks County Conversations” podcast that is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and on BucksCounty.gov.
The podcast is hosted and produced by Bucks County Department of Communication Digital Media Specialist Charlotte Reese.
“The whole point of this podcast is for people to get to know the people working for the residents of Bucks County,” Reese said.
With the growth of podcasts in recent years, Reese said the series is designed to reach residents easily and give them insight into county government.
The podcast is envisioned to be conversational and less stuffy than government often can be.
So far, the podcast series has covered capital projects and diversity, human services assistance, the new human trafficking ordinance, and an overview of the planning commission.
“We’re meeting people where they are – the internet,” said Bucks County Director of Policy and Communications Eric Nagy.
Reese, a Neshaminy High School graduate, came to the county last year after working as news director for 1490 WBCB-AM and then creating podcasts for KYW News Radio.
Nagy said Reese mentioned the idea of a county podcast during her job interview last year and he was intrigued.
Reese has also helped the county grow their followings on TikTok and Instagram.
Nagy said Bucks County has taken steps to increase their ability to reach residents.
