A Chalfont woman who caused a two-vehicle accident on Bethlehem Pike last summer while drunk driving with her minor child in the car has been sentenced to home confinement and probation.
Alexadre Sharp, 32, recently pleaded guilty to felony counts of DUI as well as misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, as part of a negotiated plea agreement with prosecutors. As a result of the agreement, Sharp was sentenced to seven years of “restrictive probation,” beginning with 12 months of home confinement.
Court records show Sharp will also have to pay a $1,500 fine and attend alcohol highway safety school. Sharp will receive credit for roughly one month of time served while she was in county jail, as well as two months where she was in an inpatient rehabilitation program, court records show.
Common Pleas Judge Wallace Bateman said the court will consider early termination of probation after four years are successfully completed. Additional charges od endangering the welfare of a child, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and texting while driving were dropped in exchange for Sharp’s pleas.
For Sharp, it’s her third DUI conviction in the last ten years.
Police were dispatched to Bethlehem Pike in front of the Hilltown Crossings Shopping Center at 3:29 p.m. on April 23, 2021, for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Investigators determined that the crash was caused by Sharpe’s vehicle drifting out of her lane and into another vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said Sharpe’s minor child was in her vehicle at the time of the crash.
Sharp was described as having droopy eyelids, unsteady on her feet and having slurred speech, the report states. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, Sharpe was taken into custody.
While conducting a search following Sharpe’s arrest, police located a Ziploc-style baggie containing whole and partial pills that were believed to be generic Xanax, according to the complaint. Police also recovered six packets of naloxone, according to the complaint.
Charges were initially filed against Sharpe on May 20, 2021, however she was not taken into custody until June 18, 2021, when she was arraigned by District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at $100,000 unsecured.
