First Friday Season Wraps Up With Fire Prevention Focus on Oct. 1

Discover Lansdale’s 2021 First Friday schedule wraps up a successful season this Friday, Oct. 1, with music, family fun and a focus on fire prevention — but, at least for this year, without zombies walking the streets.

Because of concerns about recent increases in the COVID infection rate, the nonprofit civic organization announced that the annual Zombie Walk, which typically draws huge crowds downtown, would be canceled for 2021.

Instead, the October First Friday commemorates Fire Prevention Month, with fun activities for the whole family and most of the regular features you’ve come to expect and love, including live music. And, they add, it’s a great opportunity to visit Lansdale’s many dining and shopping establishments.

Personal mitigation efforts, including masking and distancing, are strongly encouraged, in keeping with county and state recommendations.

Features include:
  • Live music on South Wood Street with Reenie & Friends. (Alcoholic beverages will be available on South Wood Street, courtesy of Round Guys Brewing Co.)
  • Eight vendors in the First Friday Pop-Up Beer Garden at the West Main Lot off Susquehanna St., plus music from DJ Tone Arm.
  • DJ Chris Evans and vendors in Railroad Plaza.
  • Food trucks along Susquehanna St. and Madison St.
  • Fire equipment from the Fairmount Fire Company of Lansdale, plus a fire truck slide and inflatable axe throwing on Madison St.
  • The Well Crafted Beer Garden in the Madison Station Courtyard.
  • A special kids’ photo scavenger hunt. Check the Discover Lansdale Facebook page in advance for the photos.
  • Also for kids: face painting and our talented balloon artist.

Please note that all guests must be 21 or older to drink, and all drinks must remain in the event space where they were purchased. Carrying drinks from one location to another is strictly prohibited.

First Fridays begin at 6 and end at 9 p.m. Road closures include South Wood Street from Main to Courtland, Madison Street from Main to the end of the one-way, and Susquehanna Ave. from Main to Courtland. Should there be a threat of inclement weather, a decision will be announced by 1 p.m. regarding whether the event will be held. There is no rain date for First Fridays.
