Discover Lansdale and the 2021 Mardi Gras Committee have announced Lansdale's Mardi Gras Parade will return for its 70th year on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 starting at 1 p.m.
The hallowed (and famously mis-named) tradition brings the whole town out each year, lining Main Street to cheer on the floats, bands, first responders, community organizations, commercial enterprises — and Santa himself — as they roll their way across the borough.
This year the Mardi Gras Committee invites local organizations, businesses and neighbors not just to watch, but to be a part of the parade. Field a float, decorate a vehicle, play music, march or ride alongside Santa on Nov. 20. Or, if you have the time, the committee is seeking volunteers to help the borough carry on its great tradition.
This year’s theme is "Decades of Celebrations,” and entrants are welcomed, if they wish, to feature a theme reminiscent of the past in their parade entry. (Note that no extra Santas are allowed; the arrival of Santa Claus is the featured finale, with the singular honor going to a
local fire department.)
The Mardi Gras Parade takes dozens of volunteers to run each year. Those who are willing and able to help are asked to email
[email protected].
To field a float or march in the parade,
downloadable entry forms and full details are available
on Discover Lansdale's website. Awards will be presented in each entry type on the form, except for floats, which will be awarded in several categories. Information on parade day sign-in, marshaling location and step off time will be emailed separately before the event.
Organizations can register at no charge; commercial entries are considered a separate class of entrant, and must be a paid parade sponsor to participate. The commercial entry registration fee is $100. See form for details.
All entries must be received by November 1. For questions, please email
[email protected] or call (267) 498-5060.
