A couple that was arrested earlier this year following a drug raid on their West Fifth Street home in Lansdale Borough is facing new charges, after investigators again raided their home after suspecting their alleged drug trafficking activities had continued after they were released on bail.
David Graham, 23, and Rebecca Demasi, 22, were each charged on Sept. 15 with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities and related conspiracy offenses, following a drug raid by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at a home along the 300 block of West Fifth Street on Sept. 14.
The home belongs to Graham’s mother, and both Graham and Demasi reside in the basement, investigators said.
Court records show Graham and Demasi were out on bail from their April arrests at the time of the most recent raid, with records indicating that Demasi posted $25,000 cash bail on April 28, 2021, and Graham posted $100,000 in June 2021.
The new allegations against Graham and Demasi were detailed in a 16-page criminal complaint that was filed with district court on Sept. 15. In the complaint, investigators from the Montgomery County Detective Bureau said Graham and Demasi fell back on their radar in August 2021 after a confidential informant (CI) identified Graham and Demasi as an ongoing source where they could purchase various illegal drugs via texting or Snapchat.
With the information provided by the informant, coupled with the initial investigation from the spring, investigators launched a secondary investigation into Graham and Demasi using extensive surveillance, multiple controlled purchases and social media information.
On Sept. 14, investigators secured search warrants for Graham, Demasi, their vehicle and their West Fifth Street home, according to the complaint. Investigators began to execute the warrants that afternoon at 2:45 p.m., when Graham was stopped near his home and searched by an arrest team. Graham was found to be in possession of a cell phone, a pouch containing marijuana and a pouch containing 20 Oxycodone pills, according to the complaint. He was subsequently taken into custody.
Inside of the home, investigators said they discovered:
Demasi, who was home at the time of the search, was found to be in possession of a cell phone, another cell phone that was found next to her, a wallet with her ID card and approximately $3,400 in cash that was next to her, the complaint states. Investigators said they believed the two phones were used to conduct illegal drug transactions, and the cash was proceeds from those illegal activities.
Demasi was also subsequently taken into custody, investigators said.
On Sept. 15, Graham was arraigned before District Judge Ed Kropp and the Montgomery County Pre-Trial Services Unit, who revoked Graham’s previously posted bail from his April arrest and set the new bail at $200,000 cash. Graham was then taken to county jail after failing to post.
On the same day, Demasi was also arraigned before Judge Kropp and the Montgomery County Pre-Trial Services Unit, who set bail at $25,000 cash. Court records do not show Demasi’s previous bail as being revoked, and they also indicate that Demasi posted $25,000 bail that same day and currently remains free.
Graham has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. in front of District Judge Ed Levine. Demasi will also have her preliminary hearing in front of Judge Levine on Oct. 20, however hers is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
All charges stemming from their April arrests, as well as their arrests in Montgomery Township from September 2019 remain active at this time. To read more about the first drug raid, click here or here. To read about their arrest at a hotel in Montgomery Township, click here.
