Editorial: Commissioner Gale Responds to Montco Employee Vaccine Mandate

The following is a statement released by Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale in response to the county's recent vaccine/testing mandate for all county and court employees.

"The tyrannical decision of the Democrat Montgomery County Commissioners to mandate that all county and court employees get the Covid-19 vaccination or be tested weekly is outrageously un-American.

Since the coronavirus outbreak in March of 2020, government at the local, state and federal level has incrementally overstepped its bounds and transformed into a dictatorship. The American people deserve the right to medical freedom without fear of being judged, shamed, ostracized, punished or forcibly subjected to compulsory testing.

Manufactured hysteria over a virus with a near 99% survival rate has allowed politicians and unelected bureaucrats to infringe upon our health care privacy rights at home, school and work, in the name of ‘safety.’

Adding insult to constitutional injury, the Democrat Montgomery County Commissioners are offering county and court employees a $150 incentive to get vaccinated. This taxpayer-funded ‘carrot’ for so-called good behavior is morally unacceptable and fiscally irresponsible.

Too often, without my input or  knowledge, the Democrat majority commissioners make major personnel and spending decisions that adversely impact our families and community. Such unilateral authoritarianism is not only a brazen power grab, but an insult to the voters who have twice elected me as their Republican representative on the Montgomery Board of Commissioners.”
