Woman Arrested After Breaking into Upper Gwynedd Home, Police Say

An Upper Gwynedd woman is facing felony charges after she allegedly broke into the home of a former acquaintance last Friday night.

Rachel Fox, 35, has been charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespassing, along with misdemeanor counts of loitering and prowling at night-time and criminal mischief, in connection with the Sept. 10 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, Upper Gwynedd Police were dispatched to a home along the 1300 block of East Prospect Avenue at 10:47 p.m. for a report of a break-in. Arriving officers spoke with the homeowner, who stated that a former-acquaintance — identified as Fox — broke into his house via a bathroom window sometime before he returned home, the report states.

Fox was located in a bedroom of the home, and subsequently admitted to breaking into the house via the bathroom window, police said. The report states that Fox gained entry to the home via an elevated deck in the backyard, which she used to rip the screen off the bathroom window. Fox then broke the latches connecting the window to the frame and entered the home, police said.

The report does not mention anything being stolen from the home.

Fox was taken into custody and arraigned the following morning by District Judge Deborah Lukens, who set bail at $15,000 cash. She was then taken to county jail after failing to post, and her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. in front of District Judge Suzan Leonard.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
