Area fire companies were dispatched to the 400 block of Carmichael Drive at 10:28 a.m. on Sept. 15 for a report of a residential fire. Arriving to the scene, first responders encountered heavy smoke and flames from the fully involved fire.
After approximately 15 minutes on scene, a second alarm was struck in order to provide additional resources and manpower to get the blaze under control. Fire companies at the scene included North Penn, Upper Gwynedd, Colmar, Center Square, Wissahickon, Worcester, Towamencin, Montgomery, Hatfield and Fairmount, with additional support coming from the Upper Gwynedd Police Department, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, and the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad.
The fire was placed under control at approximately 11:42 a.m., though crews remained on scene for several hours afterwards.
North Penn Now photographer Bob Kelly stated that a father and his two young children were able to escape the blaze without injury. No other injuries were reported, and the other five family members were not present at the time of the fire, according to a report by Dan Sokil at The Reporter.
