Man Charged After Drug Raid Uncovers Methamphetamine, Heroin at Penn Street Apartment in Lansdale Borough

A Lansdale man is facing drug trafficking charges following a drug raid at his Penn Street apartment earlier this month.

Robert Curran, 52, of the 100 block of Penn Street, has been charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute, one felony count of criminal use of a communication facility and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and purchase of a controlled substance by an unauthorized person, in connection with the investigation.

Curran is currently free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Investigators said they were tipped off to suspected drug activity occurring at Curran’s apartment in July. After securing a search warrant, members of the Lansdale Borough Police Department and Montgomery County Detective Bureau executed the warrant at 3:30 p.m. on Sept 3, uncovering bags of methamphetamine, heroin/fentanyl, packaging materials, a digital scale, drug ledger and two cell phones, according to the criminal complaint.

Curran, who was home at the time of the raid, cooperated with the investigation and allowed investigators to search and seize his phone, police said. On the phone, police found evidence of suspected drug activity, including conversations involving illegal drug sales, police said. Curran also provided a statement to police, allegedly confession to trafficking methamphetamine to 10 customers and heroin/fentanyl to upwards of five customers, the report states.

The criminal complaint indicates that Curran told investigators he had been dealing drugs on and off for approximately one year.

Curran was taken into custody that afternoon and arraigned by District Judge Margaret Hunsicker. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Sept. 15 in front of District Judge Ed Levine.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
