This Saturday, the Christopher Tur Memorial Fund, in partnership with the Perkasie Rotary, will hold the inaugural Bike Ride for Heroes charity event in Quakertown, with a portion of the proceeds going towards a free breakfast for veterans and active-duty service members at the Hatfield American Legion in November.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11, with riders and supporters meeting at Galco Business Solutions, 151 Kelly Road, in Quakertown. Registration is not required, and proceeds from the event will be split between the Christopher Tur Memorial Fund and Shelterbox — an international disaster relief charity that provides emergency shelter and other aid items to families around the world who have lost their homes to disaster or conflict.
“We are very excited to have our first event in Christopher’s name,” said Aline Tur, Christopher’s sister. “We think he would be proud that we are helping and giving back to local vets in his hometown.”

With the event completed, Aline said she’s partnering with Alfred Panico, owner and operator of Chef Chipper’s AAA Catering, to provide a free breakfast for veterans and active duty servicemembers at the Hatfield American Legion. The breakfast is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Nov. 13.
“The event is being held to give back to veterans and military families by giving them peace and strength, while honoring the life of Christopher Tur,” said Aline. “We love Christopher very much, and we are continuing his passion for helping and giving back veterans and currently enlisted military personnel.”
Aline said she hopes the free breakfast will become a recurring event at the legion. For more information on the bike ride, click here.
