Towamencin Police Investigating Thanksgiving Eve Crash with Injuries on Sumneytown Pike

Towamencin Township Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Wambold Road on Thanksgiving Eve.

Crews were dispatched to the scene at 9:32 p.m. on Nov. 24 for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries and entrapment. Units from the Towamencin Fire Company worked to free multiple trapped victims — one of which was airlifted by JeffSTAT medevac to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.

The extent of the injuries suffered by the victims, as well as their age and sex has not been released. The intersection remained closed for nearly two hours after the crash.

Police said they want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or may have information regarding the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Towamencin Township Police Department at 215-368-7606, and reference incident number 2021-17498.

Members of Harleysville EMS, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, Harleysville Fire Police, Lower Salford Police and Pennsylvania State Police assisted at the scene.
