Visitors are invited to Pennypacker Mills to on December 11 to experience the beauty of an early 20th century Christmas. The Bells of Praise bell choir will serenade visitors as they approach the Pennypacker mansion porch. Inside, visitors can meet guides who will share the story behind many of the Christmas traditions we celebrate today.
Living historians will portray family and friends in period clothing. In the kitchen, see a clear toy candy demonstration and learn why these sweet treats were a cherished part of the Christmas holiday for every child. Kerosene lamps will offer a soft glow as the mansion reflects an earlier time. One visit and you’ll quickly see why visitors come from near and far to enjoy the festivities while making memories that last a lifetime.
Historic Pennypacker Mills Victorian Christmas Open House will take place on Saturday, December 11, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Masks must be worn indoors and everyone must social distance. The Victorian Christmas Open House is free with a suggested donation of $2 per person.
All visitors will be able to see the current gallery exhibit, “Greetings from Schwenksville” as part of the tour. This display includes an exhibit on Schwenksville and the Perkiomen Valley throughout the Christmas season. View pictures and postcards of hotels, businesses, the Perkiomen Creek, Pennypacker Mills, and Schwenksville.
Visitors can also stop by the museum shop for beautiful glass ornaments and icicles, vintage inspired flannel ornaments, Wilbur Chocolates and more available for purchase.

This historic site is open year-round for free guided tours of the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel Pennypacker and his family. Known for its collection of 18th and 19th century decorative arts, furnishings, personal and official documents, the story of this famous Pennsylvania family reflects the lives of those who lived in Montgomery County in the early 1900’s.
Pennypacker Mills is open Tuesdays thru Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sundays: 1 to 4 p.m., with the last tour at 3 p.m. each day. Pennypacker Mills is closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Tours take approximately one hour and are free, with a suggested donation of $2 per person.
