Woman Gets Impatient with Ambulance at Wawa, Police Say

Mercedes Prendergast, 32, of North Wales, was arrested on Oct. 16 and charged with felony counts of fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest and related offenses, in connection with an incident that occurred in the Wawa parking lot along the 700 block of East Walnut Street in North Wales Borough.

Police said that Prendergast became irritated that an ambulance had blocked-in her vehicle as they tended to a person suffering a medical emergency in another vehicle. The criminal complaint described Prendergast as verbally aggressive towards first responders, adding that she was screaming that they had no authority to block her. When one officer attempted to help navigate Prendergast, she reportedly stated “f—k you” and “I’m not f—king going that way,” police said.

The complaint states that Prendergast began moving her vehicle back and forth aggressively, and nearly struck a police officer who was trying to stop her from moving. Eventually, police were able to wrestle Prendergast out of the vehicle and place her under arrest, according to the complaint.

Her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m. in front of District Judge Suzan Leonard.

Man Steals Segway from Montgomeryville Target, Police Say

Eric Conover, 52, of Harleysville, was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with felony retail theft after he allegedly stole a Segway scooter from Target in Montgomeryville.

Police said surveillance footage showed Conover entering the store during the afternoon of Nov. 1, at which point he selected the electric scooter and exited the store without paying. The report states Conover placed the scooter into a vehicle that was left in the fire lane outside of the store, then fled the scene.

The scooter was valued at $279.99, according to the report. Conover has preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 30 in front of District Judge Andrea Duffy.

Noise Complaint Leads to Terrorist Threat Arrest in Montgomery Township, Police Say

Steven Sibilla, 42, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Nov. 11 and charged with making terroristic threats after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman who knocked on his father’s door to make a noise complaint.

Police said the woman went to her neighbor’s house — whom she has a cordial relationship with — to ask that they reduce the volume of noise coming from their home, as it was keeping her three young children awake. The neighbor’s son, identified as Sibilla, answered the door and threatened to kill the woman, adding that the next time he saw the woman’s husband, he would kill him too, police said.

Sibilla is free on $20,000 unsecured bail. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Dec. 14.
