Woman Arrested After Stealing More Than $1,100 in Perfume from Macy’s in Montgomery Mall, Police Say

A woman from Brooklyn, NY is behind bars at county jail after she allegedly stole more than $1,100 worth of perfume from the Macy’s department store in the Montgomery Mall.

Tytianna Jones, 25, of Brooklyn, NY, has been charged with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property, as well as a misdemeanor count of false identification to law enforcement, stemming from her arrest on Nov. 9.

Montgomery Township Police were dispatched to Macy’s, located at 804 Bethlehem Pike, shortly after 1 p.m. for a report of a retail theft. Loss prevention from the store stated that three females had selected multiple items and placed them into black tote bags, then fled the store without paying, police said.

Security personnel for the Montgomery Mall stated the three females were observed running through the mall, and one of them — later identified as Jones — had been captured in the area of Wegmans, investigators said. The other two females escaped without arrest, according to the complaint.

The report states that Macy’s loss prevention recovered $1,156 in stolen perfume from Jones.

Police said that Jones provided a false identity to investigators, and said she was born in Boston, MA and currently lived on Boston Road. However, when her fingerprints were run through the system, the results showed she was Tytianna Jones, according to the report.

Police said Jones has multiple prior retail theft arrests in both New York and New Jersey.

Jones was arraigned later that day by District Judge Andrea Duffy, who set bail at $10,000 cash. Jones was then transported to county jail after failing to post bail, and her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Dec. 7 at 1:45 p.m.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
