Police Continue Investigation into Fatal Shooting of Souderton Teen

It’s been more than two weeks since police were dispatched to a fatal shooting incident at a home in Souderton on Halloween, and as rumors continue to swirl regarding the nature of the shooting and the identity of the victim, new and confirmed information has proven hard to come by.

In response to a request for comment, Souderton Borough Police Chief Brian Newhall told North Penn Now that police are continuing to investigate the incident, adding that they have been conducting interviews per their internal procedures.

“[There is] no update as of yet,” said Newhall. “We are still awaiting information from the coroner.”

As it stands, the identity of the victim, the cause of the shooting, the cause of death and myriad other aspects of the incident remain publicly unknown, leading to speculation and rumors surrounding the shooting.

“Lots of rumors going around,” said Newhall. “But none have been verified.”

North Penn Now has reached out to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an update on the incident, however we have not received a response at the time of publishing.

A joint investigation was launched by Souderton Borough Police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau on Oct. 31, following a fatal shooting at a home near the intersection of Parkview Drive and Green Street at 1:20 p.m. Sources at the time told North Penn Now that the victim was a 15-year-old male who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, however we have not been able to corroborate those details as no new information has been released.

The following morning, Newhall confirmed to North Penn Now that a juvenile male victim had been transported from the scene via Harleysville Area Emergency Medical Services to Grand View Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No further information was provided.

Newhall has since said that once the coroner’s office has issued their report and findings, he’ll provide an update.
