Lansdale Police are investigating an attack on a Muslim man that occurred last month along the 300 block of West Fifth Street.
The attack occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 24. The victim was reportedly walking down the sidewalk when a male came from across the street, immediately engaged in a verbal argument and then struck the man in the face before fleeing the scene on foot.
Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail told North Penn Now that detectives are looking into the possibility that the man was targeted because of his ethnicity or religion, as well as other possibilities including the incident being a random attack or a failed strong-armed robbery.
A description of the suspect was not provided.
Anyone with information regarding the incident, as well as the identity or whereabouts of the attacker, is asked to contact the Lansdale Borough Police Department at 215-368-1801. Tips can also be sent electronically and anonymously by clicking here.
