Norristown Farm Park Announces November Events

Montgomery County's Norristown Farm Park has announced upcoming educational and family-friendly events slated for November.

Morning Bird Walk

Tuesday, Nov. 9, 8:30 a.m.

Get outdoors and join park staff for our regular Tuesday bird walk. Bring binoculars or borrow a pair of ours. Wear sturdy shoes for hiking.

All ages; Free

Homeschool - Hike ‘n’ Seek

Wednesday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m. or Noon (two time slots available)

Discover the way many animals survive by hiding in plain sight. Take a hike to search for animals from mammal to insects. Dress for the weather.

Children ages 7-13 with adult; Free

Skunks

Saturday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m.

Join our educator Rebecca to learn all about skunks. Discover why they are black and white, what they eat, and feel a real skunk pelt. Then enjoy a visit with a live skunk from the Elmwood Park Zoo!

Ages 6 – adult; $3 donation to Elmwood Zoo

Nature Explorer - Turkeys

Thursday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m.

Gobble Gobble, it is almost Thanksgiving. What do you know about turkeys? Explore neat facts about turkeys and hear a story. Then take a hike to search for the hidden turkeys! Finally, create a craft to take home. Dress for the weather.

Children ages 3-6 with adult; $3 fee to cover craft supplies

Full Moon Walk

Friday, Nov. 19, 4:30 p.m.

Come experience a hike under the almost full moon. This nearly two mile hike will be led by park ranger Dave. See nocturnal animals and experience the starry sky. Wear sturdy shoes for hiking.

Owl Prowl - Family

Saturday, Nov. 20, 4:30 p.m.

Limited Space Available- Registration Required!

Take a walk on the property and search for the silent hunters of the night, Owls. Learn some basic facts, touch feathers and hopefully hear a wild Owl. Bring a flashlight and wear sturdy walking shoes.

All ages; Free

All programs have limited capacity, registration is required. For meeting location & registration email Rebecca at [email protected]. Programs may be canceled at any time, you will be notified if registered. All programs are outdoors, unless otherwise listed, dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

About Norristown Farm Park

Norristown Farm Park is a working farm in continuous use since colonial times. This 690=acre park is home to a wide range of plant and animal species. Within this bucolic setting you will find hiking trails, a cooperative trout nursery, picnic areas, forests, flood plains, fallow and working farm fields, wetlands and two stocked trout streams along with a number of historic structures the oldest of which, dates back to 1764. We offer a variety of public programs year-round with topics based on the seasons. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to sunset.
