Editorial: Hanrahan Seeks to Continue Service to Community as District Judge

Endorsed Republican candidate Pat Hanrahan.

(The following is an editorial submission from Magisterial District Judge challenger Pat Hanrahan, who is looking to unseat incumbent Judge Ed Levine on Nov. 2.)

To the residents of Lansdale and Hatfield boroughs, along with Hatfield and Towamencin townships:

As your endorsed Republican candidate for Magisterial District Judge, it is time for Pat Hanrahan to protect and serve once again.

I was born in Lansdale Borough and have lived in the North Penn Community my entire life. I was fortunate to meet my wife, Jen, 35 years ago while coaching swimming. I have two wonderful children, Brittany and Patrick, who grew up in the North Penn community.

I knew I always wanted to be a District Judge, to continue my lifelong passion for serving the community. In 1987, I began serving the community by taking an oath to protect and serve Hatfield Township and Borough. But now is my time to serve you as District Judge. In June 2021, I completed the Pennsylvania Minor Judiciary Education Board certification for Magisterial District Judges. This is under the supervision of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and allows me, if elected, to serve as your District Judge.

I believe North Penn residents deserve to live in a community that is safe and provides equal justice under the law. Through my 31-plus years of service, I attended and participated in hundreds of courtroom proceedings at various levels. I presented cases, assisted with witness preparation, and provided testimony at the district, county and federal court levels. I have had thousands of hours of training during my years as a law enforcement officer. Many of the training sessions pertained to dealing with people in crisis, mental health and communication techniques. I believe this training will be invaluable as a District Judge.

Should you entrust me with your vote for District Judge, I will renew your public trust and confidence in an independent judiciary dedicated to providing high quality, courteous service to you and all users in the district court. I pledge to process cases and resolve your disputes in a manner that reflects the commitment to open access, fairness, impartiality, and most importantly, public accountability.

Serving the community where I was born and raised, I recognize a District Judge’s immense power to infringe on, or inappropriately deny the rights of, every citizen that may come before the court. If elected, I pledge to protect your rights and those of all citizens, including the innocent citizens that may be adversely endangered when convicted felons are let loose in their neighborhoods.

I have dedicated my life to learning, understanding, and working with the legal system in the North Penn community. My ethical obligations of upholding the laws and protecting your rights are the guiding principles in all decisions I make and will make as your District Judge. If elected, I pledge to be an ethical and engaged District Judge who uses the law and common sense to discharge the duties of the office with integrity and respect.

Please vote Pat Hanrahan on Nov. 2, and thank you all for your continued support. For more information, click here.
