A local Korean BBQ restaurant suffered damage on Thursday night after a fire broke through the roof of the building.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, area fire companies were dispatched to Kori Korean BBQ, 709 Sumneytown Pike, at 9:56 p.m. on May 27 for a report of a commercial building fire. Dispatch notes indicate that the caller said they saw smoke inside of the building and there was an odor of something electrical burning.
Upon arrival, members of the Upper Gwynedd Fire Department and assisting fire companies worked to find the source of the odor and haze. Firefighters who were operating on the roof were able to quickly extinguish visible fire that had broken through the roof, while interior crews checked to see if the fire had extended inside.
No injuries were reported.
Upper Gwynedd Fire Department remained on scene for approximately one hour. The extent of the damage to the restaurant was not released. A call from North Penn Now seeking comment from the restaurant was unreturned as of Friday morning.
In addition to the Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, members of the Fairmount Fire Company, North Penn Fire Company, Worcester Fire Company, Colmar Fire Company, Hatfield Fire Company and Fire Department of Montgomery Township assisted at the scene.
