On Monday, Montgomery County SWAT members from three regional teams (East, West & Central) gathered for a unique training exercise.
The Philadelphia Police Department’s Aviation Unit instructed the teams on use of the Tyler Special Operations Platform (TSOP), which is a pair of externally mounted platforms, equipped with anchor points for seatbelts or safety harnesses. TSOP’s primary function is transporting and deploying personnel via insertion/extraction, dive team or emergency evacuation response.
SWAT team members practiced deployments with both ground and rooftop scenarios.
The day’s training was coordinated by Lieutenant Jay Ciarlello, Hatfield Township Police Department / Central SWAT Region Commander, and Lieutenant Steve Morrissey, Pottstown Police Department / West SWAT Region Commander.
Training is funded through grants from the state. Check out our gallery below.
