Police Blotter: Bystanders Stop Assault, Criminal Trespassing and a Pair of DUI Crashes

DUI Arrest in Whitpain Township

Dean Bauer, 64, of Blue Bell, was charged on April 28 with DUI, driving an unregistered vehicle and accidental damage to an unattended vehicle, stemming from a vehicle crash that occurred along the 1500 block of Dekalb Pike on April 3.

Police said that Bauer crashed into a vehicle and then left the scene. Bauer was stopped a short time later on Swede Road, at which point he was taken into custody. When asked how much he had to drink, Bauer reportedly replied “about one cup, one cup of alcohol,” police said.

A blood analysis showed that Bauer’s blood-alcohol content was .345% at the time of the crash, according to the criminal complaint.

Criminal Trespassing in Sellersville

Damian Geissler, 35, no fixed abode, was charged on April 19 with criminal trespassing, simple assault, defiant trespassing and harassment, stemming from an incident on April 18 in which he allegedly illegally entered a residence and assaulted a female occupant.

Police said the victim repeatedly told Geissler to get out, and an argument ensued. The argument then turned violent, leading to Geissler allegedly stomping on the victim’s face and side. Geissler fled the scene when the victim’s father pulled into the driveway of the residence, police said.

Geissler was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility after failing to post 10% of $150,000 bail.

Bystanders Stop Assault in Lower Gwynedd

Peter Amento, 47, of North Wales, was charged on May 2 with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment, public drunkenness and harassment, stemming from an incident that occurred in a parking lot at the Hunt Club on May 1.

Police said that Amento was drunk and trying to retrieve the car keys from a female who had driven him home from a local brewery, when he began to assault the female and use his forearm to strangle her. Several bystanders at a nearby picnic heard the victim’s screams and rushed to her aid, stopping the assault and holding Amento on the ground until police arrived at the scene, the criminal complaint states.

Amento was then taken into custody. He remains free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

DUI Arrest in Whitpain Township

Alanna Campbell, 30, of Bally, was charged on April 28 with DUI, careless driving, failure to yield and disregarding traffic lanes, stemming from a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Skippack and Butler pikes that occurred on March 20.

Witnesses told police that Campbell’s vehicle was traveling on Skippack Pike when it went through a red light, swerved into oncoming traffic and repeatedly travelled onto the shoulder of the road, according to the criminal complaint. Campbell’s vehicle then turned into a parking lot at the intersection of Skippack and Butler pikes, struck a large rock and then a medium-sized tree, police said.

Toxicology reports were received on April 14, which showed Campbell had a blood-alcohol content of .377% at the time of the crash, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause. All claims are merely allegations unless and until a conviction occurs.
