SEPTA will no longer accept paper tickets on Regional Rail trains or at turnstiles at stations starting Friday.
The regional transit agency said riders will have to use a SEPTA Key card to pay for fares.
SEPTA officials announced last fall that paper tickets would be phased out as the SEPTA Key program was expanded.
SEPTA Key is the transit agency’s new reloadable fare card. SEPTA Key can be used on Regional Rail, buses, trolleys, and the subway.
SEPTA Key users are asked to register the card as soon as they get it. Customers who register SEPTA Key cards within 30 days will be refunded the $4.95 purchase price.
“We encourage our riders to make the switch to SEPTA Key,” said SEPTA General Manager Leslie Richards. “By using a SEPTA Key Card, customers get the lowest possible fare, including deeply discounted single-trip prices with the Travel Wallet.”
SEPTA riders with unused paper tickets can return them for a refund. Refund requests can be mailed to:

P.O. Box 58609

Customers are asked to include the unused tickets, a letter stating the refund request, and a return address.
