Another local family has been displaced following a residential fire in Lansdale Borough.

Tuesday’s fire occurred along the 300 block of Clear Spring Road shortly after 9:30 a.m., with initial responding units quickly calling for a second alarm to be struck. Early reports indicated that the fire began on the front porch of the home before extending throughout the home itself.

As a result of the damage, the home has been rendered uninhabitable and the owners have been displaced, according to Lansdale Borough Fire Marshal Rick Lesniak. The homeowners have since made arrangements to stay at another location, Lesniak said.

The fire was placed under control at 11:19 a.m., officials said. A preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire showed that ashes from a fireplace in the home were discarded, which then ignited combustible materials, Lesniak said.

No injuries were reported.

Responding units to the scene included members of the Lansdale Borough Police Department, Fairmount Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, North Penn Fire Company, Hatfield Fire Company, Colmar Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Telford Fire Company, Worcester Fire Company and the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.

Units from Hilltown, Skippack and Perseverance fire companies provided coverage for the North Penn area during the fire, as did Harleysville EMS.

Tuesday’s fire was the second in three days to leave a homeowner displaced in Lansdale.

Early Sunday morning, fire swept through the detached garage of a home along the 500 block of Winding Road, which caused damage to the right rear corner of the home itself as well as light damage to a neighboring home due to radiant heat from the fire.

One injury was reported in that incident — a firefighter who sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
