Man Arrested After Breaking into Heritage Executive Campus in Hilltown, Police Say

Andrew Jennings, 19, no fixed address.

UPDATE: March 9, 10:01 a.m. - Hilltown Township Police Chief Chris Engelhart said the resisting arrest charge was due to the suspect allegedly failing to obey commands, as well as attempting to push past one of the officers in an attempt to escape.

Engelhart apologized for any confusion. North Penn Now has since redacted the phrase "placed under arrest without incident." Though that phrase remains in the Crimewatch statement, it does not reflect the charges or accusations stemming from the suspect's arrest.

Original story follows...

A 19-year-old man is facing felony burglary and criminal trespassing charges following an incident that occurred in Hilltown Township on Saturday afternoon.

According to the release from the Hilltown Township Police Department, police were dispatched to 1000 East Walnut Street at 2:43 p.m. on March 6 for a report of a suspicious male loitering in the area of open and closed businesses. Police said they checked the business campus on foot, and located the suspect — identified as 19-year-old Andrew Jennings, no fixed address —hiding in the interior of an unattended, closed business.

Police said Jennings refused to obey commands and attempted to push past one officer in an effort to escape, however he was subsequently taken into custody. Police also stated that once Jennings was taken into custody, he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. No further details were provided.

As a result of the incident, Jennings has been charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespassing, as well as misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jennings was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Gallagher, who set bail at 10% of $75,000 cash. Jennings was then remanded to Bucks County jail after failing to post bail, and his next court appearance is a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage on March 16 at 1 p.m.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
