A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Allentown Road and South Broad Street led to a Lansdale woman sustaining serious injuries on Saturday afternoon.
Police were dispatched to the scene at 5:04 p.m. for a report of a crash involving two vehicles. Upper Gwynedd Police Chief David Duffy said that the preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling westbound on Allentown Road — driven by a 42-year-old Lansdale Woman — went through a red light at South Broad Street, striking a vehicle that was driven by a 46-year-old Lansdale woman.
The 46-year-old woman was ejected from her vehicle as a result of the crash, police said. She was airlifted from the scene via JeffSTAT to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia for treatment of injuries that Duffy described as “serious.” Her current status is unknown.
Duffy said the 42-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was transported from the scene via ambulance to Lansdale Hospital for treatment. The intersection was closed for approximately four hours due to the crash, police said.
Upper Gwynedd Police were assisted at the scene by the North Penn Crash Team, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale and a drone from Hatfield Township Police, Duffy said.
When asked about charges being filed in connection with the crash, Duffy said a determination cannot be made until the district attorney’s office reviews the investigation, which remains open at this time.
