A Hatboro man is facing hundreds of child pornography charges after investigators allegedly found nearly 5,000 pictures and videos on his electronic devices that depicted children being sexually abused.
David Winter, 59, has been charged with 200 felony counts of possession of child pornography along with one felony count of criminal use of a communication facility. He is currently free on $250,000 unsecured bail.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Detective Bureau received a cybertip from Yahoo on March 19 regarding an image of suspected child pornography that had been sent by one of its users. Police said they were able to trace the internet protocol (IP) address associated with the Yahoo account to a residence on Drexel Road. A search warrant was executed on the residence on April 22 by members of the Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, resulting in the seizure of several electronic devices, according to the criminal complaint.
A forensic examination of Winter’s electronic devices uncovered a total of 4,797 images and videos of children engaged in sexual acts and in various stages of undress, the report states. Additionally, many of the images and videos depicted infants and toddlers being sexually abused by an adult, police said.
A preliminary hearing for Winter has been set for Friday at 1:30 p.m. in front of District Judge Paul Leo. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Caroline Goldstein, of the Family Protection Unit.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
