(The following information was provided by North Penn School District.)

The North Penn School District (NPSD) Office of School and Community Engagement is the proud recipient of several awards from the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association (PenSPRA) as part of its annual Excellence in Education Communication Contest.

North Penn earned 10 awards total with one Award of Excellence, six Awards of Honor and three Awards of Merit. PenSPRA’s Communications Contest gives professionals in school communications an opportunity to showcase their work throughout the school year. This year, eligible categories for submission included COVID-19 and/or crisis management, graphic design, photography, publications, social media, special purpose projects, videos, websites and apps, and writing. Judging was conducted by a panel of independent professionals, who provide all contestants with feedback after the contest has concluded.

The highest honor, an Award of Excellence, was earned in the Publications Category by NPSD Advertising and Marketing Specialist Erika Shaedle for the NPSD 2019-2020 Annual Report. In the same category, Shaedle also earned an Award of Honor for the NPSD 2020-2021 Calendar. Additional awards won by Shaelde include an Award of Honor in the COVID-19 and/or Crisis Management Category for the NPSD COVID Implementation Execution, and an Award of Merit in the Graphic Design Category for the NPSD 2020-2021 Return to School Booklet.

NPSD Communications and Development Specialist Kaity Andrey brought home an Award of Honor in the Publications Category for the December 2020 issue of North Penn E-Matters Newsletter. Andrey was also recognized as representing the entire NPSD Office of School and Community Engagement with an Award of Honor in the Social Media Category for their Facebook post about the district’s first snow day with a Game of Thrones twist, “Winter is Coming”.

Also earning an Award of Honor in the COVID-19 and/or Crisis Management Category was NPSD Coordinator of Communications Media Bob Gillmer for the NPSD COVID-19 Video Resources. In the Video Category, Gillmer earned three additional awards including an Award of Honor for his production of NPSD Build-a-Bag and two Awards of Merit for Congratulations North Penn Class of 2020 and NPHS The Office.

“Communicating with our community is always a priority for North Penn,” said Christine Liberaski, Director of School and Community Engagement. “We are proud of the awards achieved, but even prouder of the student and staff accomplishments that our publications and videos highlight.”

Congratulations to the NPSD Office of School and Community Engagement on these impressive accomplishments.
