The North Penn School District (NPSD) is proud to recognize North Penn High School (NPHS) Technology and Engineering Education Teacher Mr. Michael Boyer for recently being selected as the recipient of the 2021 Harold W. Pote Behind Every Graduate: Drexel University’s Award for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching.
Graduating seniors at Drexel University were invited to nominate a special high school teacher who inspired them to pursue a college education as they embark on their careers. Boyer was nominated for this award by NPHS Class of 2016 and Drexel University graduate Jonathan Hollenbach.
During his time at North Penn, Hollenbach was an Engineering Academy student who did some amazing research with his team on core-sheath phase change nanofibers, photochromic polymers, and analyzing the effects of atmospheric conditions on the electrospinning process. He was also a member of the Engineering Project in Community Service Club (EPICS).
In 2006, Drexel University initiated this award to encourage graduating seniors to acknowledge superior secondary school teachers who played an important role in their lives. Graduating seniors were invited to nominate a teacher who had contributed significantly to their intellectual and personal growth, and, Jonathan Hollenbach, a BS Materials Science and Engineering major nominated Boyer for his encouragement, role modeling and commitment to students.
As a recipient of this prestigious award, Mr. Boyer was recognized at the Drexel University College of Engineering Commencement ceremony and the virtual ceremony in honor of Behind Every Graduate Award Recipients on Wednesday, June 2 and presented with $1,000.00.
Congratulations Mr. Michael Boyer!
