Police Warn of Recent Bear Sightings in Perkasie

Perkasie Police have issued a warning to residents after a series of bear sightings were reported on Tuesday evening.

Police said they received multiple reports regarding black bear sightings during the evening of June 15. The initial report was for two black bears spotted in the area of Ridge Road, however additional reports observed a single black bear which was moving throughout the borough.

The majority of the sightings occurred in the area between Guth Elementary School and Blooming Glen Road.

Then, early Wednesday morning, police were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Ridge Road near Branch Valley Fish and Game. Police said there was evidence that a bear may have been injured in the crash, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission was notified and responded to the scene.

The game commission said this is normal behavior for young bears during this time of year. Residents are asked to refrain from approaching the bear, as well as feeding them or harassing them in any way.
