Local police and community members from across the area met for a friendly game of softball on Saturday afternoon.
Organized by Shaykh Anwar Muhammad — owner of Lansdale’s Black Reserve Bookstore — and held at the Plains Mennonite Church in Hatfield Township, Saturday’s game served to strengthen ties between police and the community.
Dubbed “The People and Police Community Softball Game,” the event drew a good amount of local youth, as well as adults, families and elected officials.
“To say ‘The People and Police Community Softball Game’ was a success would be a complete understatement,” said Muhammad, via Facebook after the game. “Wonderfully amazing!”
According to a post from the Lansdale Borough Police Department’s Crimewatch page, members of Lansdale Police were joined by members of Hatfield Township Police, Upper Gwynedd Police, Lower Gwynedd Police, Montgomery Township Police, Ambler Borough Police, Whitpain Township Police, Upper Dublin Township Police and Towamencin Township Police at the event.
North Penn Now photographer Bob Kelly was on scene for most of Saturday’s event. Be sure to check out his gallery below!
