An unidentified man was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital on Wednesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Wambold Road in Towamencin Township.
First responders were dispatched to the scene at 4:56 p.m. on June 2 for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, police said they located a two-vehicle crash involving a 2010 Acura TL and a 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck. Both vehicles were driven by male operators, and both males were the sole occupants in their vehicles, police said.
Investigators said the crash occurred in the intersection, which then caused the Ford to leave the roadway and collide with a traffic signal standard along the side of the road.
“Due to injuries sustained in the crash, the driver of the F150 was transported via JeffSTAT2 medevac helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he is currently reported to be in stable condition,” said Towamencin Township Police Chief Tim Troxel.
The intersection remained closed until approximately 7:30 p.m., as crash scene investigators processed the scene and collected evidence, Troxel said. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
Towamencin Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Lower Salford Police Department, Towamencin Fire Company, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, and fire police from Towamencin and Harleysville fire companies.
