UPDATE: June 1, 4:33 p.m. - Lansdale Borough Emergency Management Coordinator and Fire Marshal Rick Lesniak said that Lansdale Borough Police and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal are also investigating the cause of the fire.
Crews were initially dispatched to the 200 block of South Broad Street shortly at 5:51 a.m. for a report of a fire at a single-story dwelling. Upon arrival, crews encountered a “heavily involved” fire with both smoke and visible flames showing from the exterior.
“Our crews were able to make a very quick stop to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the rest of the building, however there is extensive smoke and water damage throughout,” said Gavin Butler, Deputy Chief for Fairmount Fire Company.
Butler said the blaze was placed under control in roughly 20 minutes, though crews remained on scene until close to noon. No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced as the building was vacant at the time of the fire.
Fairmount was assisted at the scene by crews from the North Penn Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Worcester Fire Company, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale and Lansdale Borough Police Department.
The cause of the fire in under investigation by the fire marshal.
