Yanni’s Gyros Announces Closure on Main Street in Lansdale, Seeking New Location

West Main Street in Lansdale is down another restaurant, following the weekend announcement that Yanni’s Gyros is closing their doors.

The announcement was made on Saturday via Facebook, stating the closure was due to their lease ending and being unable to renew it. Now, the owners are looking at new locations in order to reopen, however no selection has been made at this time.

The closure became official on Sunday, July 25, according to their Facebook post.

“We would like to thank all of you for your support and your kindness throughout the last eight years,” said the owners. “We will inform you about [our] future plans and location. We will miss you all.”

In May, the current owners announced they were changing the business name from Yanni’s Gyros to Corfo Gyros. It is unclear if a new location would bear the new name.

The closure of Yanni’s comes on the heels of two other recent closures of popular restaurants on West Main Street — Café V-DaL and The Oasis.

Café V-DaL closed-down their operations at 5 West Main Street after five years in the borough, choosing to reopen in Lower Salford Township as Crepe Place V-DaL. The move put owners Valentina and Zlati Stoyanov closer to their home, as they moved from Bulgaria to the Harleysville area in 2006.

For the Oasis, the closure brought to an end a 35-year run in Lansdale Borough. No reason was given for the closure, no announcement was made and calls to the business are immediately disconnected. The Oasis was owned by husband-and-wife duo Wadih and Micheline Habib, and specialized in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food and pastries.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though. The former location of Café V-DaL has already be filled by a new restaurant — White Jasmin Thai Cuisine. Though White Jasmin has only been open for a few months, the early reviews are universally positive with many praising the authenticity and freshness of the food.
