Hit and Run at Giant on County Line Road Leads to DUI Charges for Local Man

Steven Santoro, 58, of Chalfont, has been charged with DUI, hit and run, failure to render aid and related offenses in connection with a hit-and-run crash that occurred on July 8 in New Britain Township.

Police said Santora struck a vehicle while in the New Britain Village Square Shopping Center — located along the 4200 block of County Line Road — then fled the scene at a high rate of speed. No injuries were reported, however the victim suffered minor damage to the rear of their vehicle, police said.

Santoro was located at his home a short time later, where he told police that he had a little to drink and left the scene of the crash because there was no damage, according to the criminal complaint. Police said Santoro failed a series of field sobriety tests outside of his home and was subsequently taken into custody.

Results of a chemical blood test are pending, police said.

Towamencin Police Recover Stolen Vehicle During Traffic Stop

Aaron Badeau, 31, of Willow Grove, was arrested on July 8 and charged with felony receiving stolen property along with misdemeanor DUI and summary driving without a license, in connection with a traffic stop on Allentown Road.

Badeau reportedly told police that he was taking a friend to the Holiday Inn on Sumneytown Pike at 3:18 a.m., however the vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction, according to the criminal complaint. Police said when they ran the registration, they were informed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Philadelphia.

Once outside the vehicle, Badeau failed a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken into custody. A blood sample was taken for chemical testing, however the results have not yet been received, police said.
