A local restaurant has been shuttered after an early morning fire caused extensive damage throughout the building.
Crews from Fairmount Fire Company were dispatched to the 400 block of Walnut Street in Lansdale Borough around 1 a.m. for a report of a fire at Wimberly Spanish Food Pizza and Pasta. Fire company officials said that arriving units encountered a large amount of fire at the front of the building and quickly went into action.
Fairmount Assistant Chief R.J. Snyder said crews were able to quickly make progress and get the fire under control, but not before the building sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage. No injuries were reported among civilians or first responders.
Fairmount was assisted at the scene by units from Colmar Fire Company, Hatfield Fire Company, Worcester Fire Company, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, Lansdale Borough Police and the Lansdale Borough Fire Marshal.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Lansdale Borough Fire Marshal’s Office. The scene was cleared shortly after 4 a.m., Snyder said.
