After the last year and a half, the community needs some Christmas cheer a little earlier in the year. The Montgomery County Chapter of the Centurions and Hogs and Honeys Foundation for Kids will make sure to spread laughter and joy in the year as they host the Fifth Annual “Christmas in July Toy Run” on Sunday July 11.
With COVID-19 cancelling not only last year’s toy run, but all in-person fundraising. Santa and his motorcycle elves are ready to be back in their community spreading cheer for the first time in more than a year. The organizations have managed COVID-19 via Zoom meetings and virtual fundraising, but nothing is the same as hosting in-person. An anticipated 150 riders and passengers will provide unwrapped toys for the children of Gemma Services (formerly Silver Spring Martin Luther School). The registration fees will help to support the children at Variety.
All participants can register the day of the event at The Hogs and Honeys office, located at 2014 Old Arch Road, East Norriton. Each participant is asked to bring an unwrapped, non-violent toy. Registration fees are $25 for riders and $10 for passengers. After a drive-thru at Gemma Services, the riders will then proceed on a short ride and end with a picnic at Variety on Potshop Road in Worcester Township.
As a special surprise to a young Montgomery County resident, the organizations will present a special-needs bicycle. What brings these two groups together is their love for motorcycles and making a difference in children’s lives. Every child needs to know what freedom on wheels feels like and this donation is one way the organizations can make that happen.
It’s time to get out your Santa hats and reindeer antlers, or elf outfits if you choose, to join us for a day full of summertime Christmas cheer. No snow or cold weather on this ride, just sunshine and smiles. There is no feeling like sharing a moment with a child as they get to see the bikes roar in.
“It’s all for the kids!”
About Hogs and Honeys Foundation for Kids
The Hogs and Honeys Foundation for Kids is dedicated to helping the disadvantaged and abused children of Montgomery County.
One in 10 children are abused before their 18th birthday and over 12,500 children are designated as “in poverty" in Montgomery County. The Hogs and Honeys Foundation aims to help these children.
Since the organization was first started in 2004, over $480,000 has been raised for the children of Montgomery County. We are excited about continuing to support local nonprofits that work directly with children while also expanding into giving direct grants to children in need.
