Woman Charged with Third DUI, Child Endangerment In April Crash on Bethlehem Pike

A Chalfont woman is facing felony DUI and child endangerment in connection with a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Bethlehem Pike in April.

Alexandre Sharpe, 32, has also bee charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as summary counts of careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and texting while driving, in connection with the April 23 crash in Hilltown Township.

Police were dispatched to Bethlehem Pike in front of the Hilltown Crossings Shopping Center at 3:29 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Investigators determined that the crash was caused by Sharpe’s vehicle drifting out of her lane and into another vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said Sharpe’s minor child was in her vehicle at the time of the crash.

Sharp was described as having droopy eyelids, unsteady on her feet and having slurred speech, the report states. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, Sharpe was taken into custody and provided a blood sample for chemical testing, police said.

The results of the chemical test are pending, according to the complaint.

While conducting a search following Sharpe’s arrest, police located a Ziploc-style baggie containing whole and partial pills that are believed to be generic Xanax, according to the complaint. Police also recovered six packets of naloxone, according to the complaint.

Charges were initially filed against Sharpe on May 20, however she was not taken into custody until June 18, when she was arraigned by District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at $100,000 unsecured.

Sharpe’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Sept. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Armitage.

According to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, a person can be charged with felony DUI is they have two prior misdemeanor convictions in the past 10 years and had a minor in the vehicle at the time of the third arrest.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
