Mayoral Musings: A Busy Summer Ahead!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July holiday and you were able to spend some well-deserved time with family, friends, and loved ones. Additionally, I would like to thank everyone who came out and joined in on our First Friday last week. It was amazing seeing our community full of life and vibrancy again!

Thanks also goes out to the First Friday team that spends countless hours organizing and planning each First Friday. It cannot be overstated how much this monthly event has helped attract businesses and residents to our community, while also giving us a reason to celebrate each month with the unique themes and fun twists that accompany every First Friday.

As we continue our reemergence from the pandemic, there will be more events planned throughout the remainder of the year. The calendar of events currently looks like the following:

  • July 17: Lansdale Day
  • Aug 3: National Night Out w/ Lansdale Police @ Borough Hall Parking Lot
  • Aug 6: Lansdale Arts, Music and Food Truck Festival (August First Friday)
  • Aug 10-14: St. Stan’s Summer Festival
  • Aug 28: Founder’s Day
  • Sept 3: Football First Friday and Chili Cookoff (September First Friday)
  • Sept 18: Lansdale Cruise Night
  • Sept 25: Fairmount Fire Company’s Under the Lights Car Show
  • Oct 1: Lansdale Zombie Walk (October First Friday)

Even for Lansdale, this is a busy events schedule!

Events that were traditionally scheduled for June have been moved into July and September, while all the traditional events that take place in those months are still occurring. Obviously, we want everyone to enjoy themselves and all the liveliness the events can offer, but please be aware of increased traffic and parking challenges that come with our busy events schedule.

Additionally, the pandemic is not completely over yet, and if last week’s First Friday is any indication, these will be well attended and dense events. Please be safe while attending, wear a mask if you feel like you should, use hand sanitizer often, and please get vaccinated if you have not yet.

I am very excited to see our community really coming to life and bringing people back together after the events of the pandemic. We need to interact with one another, and we deserve to celebrate our community. Lansdale is a better place to live, work, and play when we are lifting one another up and sharing positive moments with each other. I look forward to seeing many of you in the coming months and I know that together we can make this summer season one of the very best Lansdale has ever seen.
