Lansdale Police have announced the arrest of a Hatfield Township man who was allegedly caught breaking into a vehicle on Perkiomen Avenue early Saturday morning.
28-year-old Aaron Munson, of Hatfield, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and prowling at night, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the incident. Court records also indicate Munson has been charged with a summary count of public drunkenness, in connection with the incident.
Police said they were dispatched to the 300 block of Perkiomen Avenue at 12:25 a.m. on Jan. 9 for a report of a suspicious male going through a resident’s vehicle to the rear of their residence. Police checked the area and found Munson squatting against a home, the release states. Munson then jumped up and attempted to flee on foot, but after running through a yard he got on the ground and was subsequently taken into custody, police said.
Once in custody, police located two sandwich bags of suspected marijuana in Munson’s possession, and he showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.
Munson was arraigned later that afternoon by Magisterial District Judge Gregory Scott, who set bail at $50,000 cash. Munson was taken to county jail after failing to post bail, and his next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Jan. 20 at 1:15 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.
(All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.)
