Coronavirus Update: County Reports 172 Cases, No Deaths and 219 Hospitalized on Thursday

Montgomery County announced 172 new coronavirus cases and no additional deaths on Thursday morning.

Data shows that of the 172 cases reported on Thursday, 3 cases occurred at long-term care facilities, zero occurred at the county jail and the remaining 169 cases occurred within the community. The countywide total now stands at 44,755 confirmed positive cases.

North Penn Area Update

Below you will find total amount of cases over the last 30 days for the seven municipalities that comprise North Penn School District. The cases, as of Feb. 11, are as follows:

  • Lansdale Borough – 161 cases and 6 deaths
  • Montgomery Township -- 182 cases and 1 death
  • Towamencin Township – 164 cases and 1 death
  • Hatfield Township -- 199 cases and 1 death
  • Upper Gwynedd -- 87 cases and 1 death
  • Hatfield Borough -- 38 cases and no deaths
  • North Wales Borough -- 34 cases and no deaths

Totals now stand at 865 cases and 10 deaths over the last 30 days.

North Penn School District Update

North Penn School District reported one new case on Feb. 10, including:

  • 1 staff member at Hatfield Elementary

Previous cases within the district, dating from Oct. 30 through Feb. 5, include:

  • Inglewood Elementary – 6 students and 3 staff members
  • North Penn High School – 8 staff members, 14 students
  • Montgomery Elementary – 4 staff members, 3 students
  • Pennbrook Middle School – 2 staff member, 11 students
  • Penndale Middle School – 8 students and 3 staff members
  • Pennfield Middle School - 4 students and 2 staff members
  • Gwynedd Square Elementary – 6 staff members and 6 students
  • Gwyn-Nor Elementary – 4 students
  • Hatfield Elementary – 3 students and 1 staff member
  • North Wales Elementary – 2 students
  • York Avenue Elementary – 2 staff members and 4 students
  • Bridle Path Elementary – 3 students and 3 staff members
  • Walton Farm Elementary – 4 students and 4 staff members
  • North Penn School District – 7 staff members unassigned to a school
  • Oak Park Elementary – 1 staff member and 1 student

Update for Neighboring Communities

Cases over the past 30 days in the neighboring communities are as follows:

  • Souderton Borough – 99 cases and no deaths
  • Telford Borough – 23 cases and no deaths
  • Franconia Township – 147 cases and 1 death
  • Lower Salford Township – 162 cases and 2 deaths
  • Skippack Township – 166 cases and 2 deaths
  • Worcester Township – 95 cases and 2 deaths
  • Whitpain Township – 142 cases and 4 deaths
  • Lower Gwynedd Township – 75 cases and 4 deaths
  • Horsham Township – 225 cases and no deaths

Totals across the surrounding municipalities over the last 30 days are 1,134 cases and 15 deaths.

Montgomery County Update

The countywide death toll from the coronavirus continues to stand at 1,176.

In the past seven days, there have been a total of 1,268 new cases reported in Montgomery County, which is a decrease of 73 cases compared to the previous week. Additionally, the county’s seven-day PCR Test Positivity Rate currently stands at 7.6% as of Feb. 4.

According to the Montgomery County COVID-19 Dashboard, there are currently 219 county residents who are hospitalized due to the coronavirus, of which 35 require the use of a ventilator. A breakdown of cases by hospital is not available.

Montgomery County is now averaging 172 new cases per day over the most recent 14-day period.

State Level Update

Also on Thursday, Pennsylvania reported a total of 3,978 new cases, bringing the state’s total to 884,269 confirmed positive cases.

The state also announced that there were 115 additional confirmed deaths, bringing the total to 22,860 confirmed deaths across the commonwealth.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there are 65,010 resident cases of COVID-19, and 12,616 cases among employees, for a total of 77,626 at 1,555 distinct facilities in all 67 counties since the beginning of the pandemic. Out of total deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 11,909 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

To date, 24,023 healthcare workers have tested positive for the coronavirus. Hospitalization statistics show that 2,687 people are currently hospitalized across the commonwealth, of which 301 require the use of a ventilator. 16% of medical/surgical beds and 20.5% of adult ICU beds are currently available.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Jan. 29 through Feb. 4 stood at 8.6%.

As of Feb. 11, 3,735,776 tests have been negative for the coronavirus. Approximately 86% of those who have tested positive in Pennsylvania have since recovered, leaving an estimated 123,798 active cases across the state.
