A Yardley man is behind bars at the Bucks County Correctional Facility following a bizarre series of incidents that occurred in Perkasie Borough Tuesday evening.
According to police, members of the Perkasie Borough Police Department received multiple calls about a disturbance along the 300 block of South Third Street at 6:47 p.m. on Feb. 9. Once on scene, police located a family who stated that an unknown male had entered the rear of their home and chased them out with a large kitchen knife, the release states.
A short time later, police received a second call — this time involving a stabbing victim in the immediate area. Police responded and determined the stabbing victim — later identified as 52-year-old James Park — was the suspect in the home invasion, the report states.
Park’s injuries appeared to be self-inflicted, police said. He was transported from the scene via ambulance to an area hospital, where he was treated and released into the custody of the Perkasie Borough Police, according to the release.
As a result of the incident, Park has been charged with two felony counts of burglary, two felony counts of aggravated assault and one felony count of robbery, as well as misdemeanor counts of simple assault, possessing an instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, theft by unlawful taking and making terroristic threats.
Park was arraigned the following morning by Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at 10% of $750,000 cash. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Armitage on March 2 at 1 p.m.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
