North Penn School District has announced that they will require indoor masking for all students, staff and visitors, beginning on Thursday, Aug. 26.
The school board voted last week to require indoor masking for all elementary students and staff, however the secondary level was left optional, based off of current COVID-19 transmission levels. The district said in an email to parents on Wednesday that the North Penn community is in its second straight week of “substantial transmission rates,” which triggers the mask requirement for everyone under the North Penn School District Health and Safety Plan.
The email reads, in full:
Beginning tomorrow Thursday, August 26, 2021, masks must be worn by students, staff and visitors inside of all North Penn School District buildings, per the NPSD Health and Safety Plan. This change comes as the North Penn community is now in its second straight week of substantial transmission rates of COVID-19. Masks remain optional outside. You can view Masking Requirements here.
Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this important matter.
Masks will remain optional outdoors, according to the district.
