Discover Lansdale’s annual Chili Cookoff will make its return to First Fridays in September, and organizers are looking for a dozen or so talented cooks and chefs who know how to bring the heat.
The cookoff has been inserted into September’s football-themed First Friday festivities — more on those next week — instead of its usual October appearance. The contest will be held on Susquehanna Ave next to the beer garden in the West Main Lot, with the contest being held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and awards being announced at 8:45 p.m.
Judging will be done by the general public via write-in ballots during the course of the contest, and awards for first, second and third place will be provided afterwards. There will also be a Mayor’s Choice winner, and all winners will receive a trophy and Discover Lansdale swag.

The contest will be limited to the first 15 entries, and both businesses and private residents are allowed to enter.
Though there was no contest held in 2020, previous winners include Montella’s Pub in 2019 and Stove and Tap in 2018.
