NPSD to Hold K-Day: A Practice Run on the Big Yellow Bus

The North Penn School District (NPSD) Transportation Department welcomes incoming kindergarten and first grade students and parents to attend K-Day. This program is designed to ease the anxiety that can be felt by students (and parents!) who are first timers on the big yellow school bus!

The program will be held at North Penn High School, located at 1340 Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA 19446. Participants should enter through the main entrance and continue straight to the auditorium. Four identical sessions, which last roughly one hour, will be held at the following dates/times:

  • Thursday, August 19, 8:30 am
  • Thursday, August 19, 10:00 am

Registration is required to attend and can be done so here.

Participants have the opportunity to explore the bus while NPSD bus drivers explain school bus facts and safety information. Parents and students are then invited to take a seat for a short ride around the neighborhood. The exciting day will wrap up with a safety video and safety education regarding the “danger zone” around the bus when loading and unloading.

Participation in K-Day is voluntary and does not preclude the safety training that occurs in all 13 of the district’s elementary schools each fall.

Registration is required and can be done using the link above. Please note that this program is for NPSD students entering kindergarten or first grade only. All students attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Siblings are not permitted to attend. Masks are required to be worn while riding the bus.

The program begins and busses will depart promptly at the start time of each session. We ask students to please practice being on time for your bus stop and arrive promptly to K-Day.
