Area police departments and first responders held multiple events on Tuesday evening as part of the National Night Out initiative, in an effort to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
“One of the challenges all communities face when it comes to policing is that all too often, people only interact with police officers when something has gone wrong — sometimes very wrong,” said Lansdale Mayor Garry Herbert. “As we continue to embrace community-oriented policing, which strives to build stronger positive bonds with residents, we must proactively create the opportunity for positive interactions. National Night Out is one of the solutions to proactively building those stronger positive bonds, especially for families and kids.”
In the North Penn area, events were held at Lansdale Borough Hall, Windlestrae Park in Montgomery Township, and multiple locations including Merry Brook, Gwynedale, Village at Gwynedd and Stonegate in Upper Gwynedd Township.
