Coronavirus Update: County Reports 473 Cases, No Deaths Since Friday

Montgomery County announced 473 new coronavirus cases and no additional deaths on Monday afternoon, representing a three-day reporting period from April 24 through April 26.

Data shows that of the 471 cases reported on Monday, 3 cases occurred at a long-term care facilities, zero occurred at the county jail and the remaining 470 cases occurred within the community. The countywide total now stands at 56,533 confirmed positive cases.

North Penn Area Update

Below you will find total amount of cases over the last 30 days for the seven municipalities that comprise North Penn School District. The cases, as of April 26, are as follows:

  • Lansdale Borough – 196 cases and 1 death
  • Montgomery Township -- 179 cases and 1 death
  • Towamencin Township – 148 cases and no deaths
  • Hatfield Township -- 181 cases and 1 death
  • Upper Gwynedd -- 124 cases and 1 death
  • Hatfield Borough -- 42 cases and no deaths
  • North Wales Borough -- 23 cases and no deaths

Totals now stand at 893 cases and 4 deaths over the last 30 days.

North Penn School District Update

North Penn School District reported no new cases on April 23.

Previous cases within the district, dating from Oct. 30, 2020 through April 22, include:

  • Inglewood Elementary – 13 students and 3 staff members
  • North Penn High School – 13 staff members, 45 students
  • Montgomery Elementary – 4 staff members, 9 students
  • Pennbrook Middle School – 5 staff members, 18 students
  • Penndale Middle School – 23 students and 3 staff members
  • Pennfield Middle School - 13 students and 4 staff members
  • Gwynedd Square Elementary – 7 staff members and 14 students
  • Gwyn-Nor Elementary – 10 students
  • Hatfield Elementary – 5 students and 5 staff members
  • North Wales Elementary – 7 students and 1 staff member
  • York Avenue Elementary – 4 staff members and 6 students
  • Bridle Path Elementary – 10 students and 4 staff members
  • Walton Farm Elementary – 8 students and 5 staff members
  • North Penn School District – 10 staff members unassigned to a school

  • Telford Borough – 27 cases and no deaths
  • Franconia Township – 124 cases and no deaths
  • Lower Salford Township – 147 cases and no deaths
  • Skippack Township – 113 cases and 1 death
  • Worcester Township – 84 cases and 2 deaths
  • Whitpain Township – 122 cases and no deaths
  • Lower Gwynedd Township – 55 cases and no deaths
  • Horsham Township – 184 cases and 1 death

Totals across the surrounding municipalities over the last 30 days are 966 cases and 4 deaths.

Montgomery County Update

The countywide death toll from the coronavirus now stands at 1,281.

In the past seven days, there have been a total of 1,241 new cases reported in Montgomery County, which is a decrease of 296 cases compared to the previous week. Additionally, the county’s seven-day PCR Test Positivity Rate increased to 8.1% through the week of April 16 through April 22, according to the Pennsylvania Early Warning Dashboard.

According to the Montgomery County COVID-19 Dashboard, there are currently 229 county residents who are hospitalized due to the coronavirus, of which 11 require the use of a ventilator. A breakdown of cases by hospital is not available.

Montgomery County is now averaging 208.9 new cases per day over the most recent 14-day period ending April 26.

State Level Update

Earlier on Monday, Pennsylvania reported a total of 5,043 new cases across a two-day reporting period panning April 25 and April 26, bringing the state’s total to 1,136,057 confirmed positive cases.

The state also announced that there were 5 additional confirmed deaths, bringing the total to 25,988 confirmed deaths across the commonwealth.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there are 70,484 resident cases of COVID-19, and 14,708 cases among employees, for a total of 85,192 at 1,588 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of total deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 13,082 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

To date, 27,503 healthcare workers have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of April 16 through April 22 stood at 8.6%. Hospitalization statistics show that 2,495 people are currently hospitalized across the commonwealth, of which 248 require the use of a ventilator. 17.7% of medical/surgical beds and 21.8% of adult ICU beds are currently available.

As of April 26, 4,355,119 tests have been negative for the coronavirus. Approximately 88% of those who have tested positive in Pennsylvania have since recovered, leaving an estimated 136,327 active cases across the state.
