County Confirms Raccoon Tested Positive for Rabies in Horsham Township

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed a test that showed a raccoon in Horsham Township was positive for rabies.

The raccoon was located along with 1200 block of Lois Road in Horsham Township. The department stated that anyone who has been bitten or scratched by, or had saliva exposure to a raccoon must receive treatment to prevent the fatal disease.

Officials said that if anyone or any pets have had possible contact with a raccoon or any other stray or wild animals, they should immediately contact the Montgomery County Office of Public Health, Division of Communicable Disease Control at 610-278-5117.
